The original inspiration for The Sin Gusano Project came from travels in rural southern Mexico, and meeting the people who live there and work with agave and mezcal. Many in this region are financially poor and under threat of everything from state corruption, to natural disasters, to the encroachment of the narco industry, to capitalist forces their artisanal methods simply can't keep up with.
Sin Gusano has pledged to gift 10% of profits to charitable causes. We aim to spread our giving between education programs and sustainability projects in Oaxaca, Mexico, and projects closer to home in London.

ORGANISATIONS SUPPORTED BY THE SIN GUSANO PROJECT
S.A.C.R.E.D.
A U.S. registered charity, SACRED work with NGO's in Mexico to promote agave sustainability and education in rural mezcal producing regions.
Since 2018 we have been donating a proportion of our pop-up profits to our good friends at SACRED, and we now regularly send them £1 of every Mezcal Appreciation Society subscription payment.
EXPRESIONES DEL MEZCAL
A Oaxaca based anthropology project exploring the importance of history and culture in mezcal communities.
Founder Vinik turns out regular fascinating essays and maps, such as this. The project receives regular funding from our giving back programme.
BEAM
UK homelessness between 2010 - 2019 increased by 165%. Working in the night time economy of East London, this rise has been plain to see. Some measures show that in London, one in every 52 people are homeless.
Those figures are not ok with us, nor should they be with anyone. But the UK government over this period has proven itself either incompetent or unwilling to address the issue.
Beam uses crowd funding to see worthy homeless individuals through training, to help them find work and get back on their feet.
MIND
In October 2020 the London Ambulance Service shared that it is attending an average of 37 suicide attempts every day, compared to 22 in 2019.
Clearly the global pandemic has been terrible for mental health, and in the UK it’s an area of health that remains heavily under-funded.
While the UK was in lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, on top of our other projects we pledged £1 per 50cl bottle sold to Mind, who offer support and advice to those in need
