Talk starts 7pm (free entry).
Mezcal bar open as usual from 5pm.
Special guest Samuel Bautista Lazo is a Zapotec weaver from Teotitlan del Valle in Oaxaca. During this presentation Sam will offer a glimpse into the wisdom of the Zapotec culture by telling us how the agave provides nutritious food, and the many ways Mezcal creates beautiful social moments that bonds the community in his village. And for those with the ears to listen, he will explain how the thin, yet strong agave fibers are woven into stories and teachings that bind the body to the spirit.
He will also be exhibiting a selection of agave fiber rugs and wool rugs that depict the agave and other Zapotec symbols, all of which will be available for purchase.
Don't miss this unique opportunity!
